Samsung takes on iPad with Galaxy
Samsung forayed into the Indian tablet PC market with the launch of Android-powered Galaxy Tab.
Priced at Rs. 38,000, the device will be up for
sale from November 10.
The move will fuel the growth of tablet PC segment in the country, which is expected to touch 1 million units sales over the next 12 months.
The company is looking at a 50 per cent share of this market.
Samsung Galaxy Tab, which has been launched in the US and Europe, is powered with an Android operating system, and is equipped with a seven-inch TFT-LCD screen, 3 MP camera and an in-built memory of 16GB
The device comes equipped with applications like Reader's Hub (with over two million e-books), Social Hub and Google marketplace.
Samsung will partner with telecom operators like Airtel, Aircel, Vodafone, Tata DOCOMO and RCom to bundle data plans with Galaxy Tab.
