MTNL Mumbai reduces broadband upload charges
State-owned telecom PSU Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Limited [MTNL] today announced reduction of Broadband tariff n Mumbai city for additional Upload bandwidth. MTNL provides ADSL2+ Broadband services on Landline with brand name ‘Triband” in Delhi and Mumbai. MTNL is the only ISP which offers free upload data usage and only the download usage is being charged in various volume based plans it offers. Other peer ISP including BSNL are charging Data Usage which includes Download and Upload data transfers. By default MTNL provides upload speed of 256Kbps in all plans, and for additional upload speed monthly charges of Rs 500 is being charged for each additional 256Kbps. Now with the above announcement the additional upload bandwidth charges has been revised to Rs 150 per month for each additional 256Kbps upload speed. Upload speed plays important roll if a user want to upload huge data on Internet, for example uploading a video on YouTube or sharing good quality high resolution images etc. The tariff reduction of upload speed charges will enable all volume based plan customers to enjoy free upload data transfer by simply paying flat monthly charges. However, MTNL will provide a maximum upload speed upto 1Mbps subjected to technical feasibility.
