Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9 Announced; Slim, Sleek And Fast!
Samsung announced a smaller version of the Galaxy Tab 10.1 at the CTIA as well – the Galaxy Tab 8.9.
As its name suggests, the Galaxy Tab 8.9 sports an 8.9-inch screen with WXGA (1280×800) display. Like its bigger sibling, the 8.9-inch Tab will be powered by a dual-core 1GHz processor and pack 1GB of RAM.
The back of the tablet sports a 3MP camera with Auto-Focus and an LED Flash, along with a 2MP camera in the front. The tablet is also insanely thin with at only 8.6mm!
Like its bigger sibling, the smaller Tab will support HSPA+ and will pack the usual Wi-Fi b/g/n, Bluetooth, GPS with A-GPS, microSD card slot etc. The Galaxy Tab 8.9 will pack a 6000mAh battery and will weigh only 470grams!
Unlike the iPad 2, the Galaxy Tab 8.9 will sport stereo speakers. The Tab 8.9 will run on Android 3.0 Honeycomb with Samsung’s TouchWIZ UX on top of it. The tablet will also feature hardware-based encryption for both internal and external storage, like the Galaxy S II.
The Galaxy Tab 8.9-inch is coming to the United State “early this summer”, and the 16GB Wi-Fi version will cost $469, while the 32GB version will cost $569.
