Idea Cellular has Highest Active Customer 92.65% Base in Feb’2011

Indian teledensity has reached 69.29 in the month of Feb 2011 as telecom companies added 20.12 mn new subscribers. Wireless subscribers rose from 771.18 mn in Jan to 791.38 mn in Feb while wireline subscribers declined from 34.94 mn in Jan to 34.87 mn in Feb 2011.According to TRAI private operators hold 87.90% of the wireless market share where as BSNLand MTNL, two PSU operators hold only 12.10% market share at the end of Feb.

But active wireless base demonstrated by Visitor Location Register (VLR)data stands at 71.14% of the total wireless base Idea Cellular boasta of highest active wireless base at 92.65% while  Bharti Airtel has active base of 92.52%. State run telecom PSU MTNL has lowest active base of 36.16%.

Operator wise VLR data- Feb 2011

Vodafone added most number of subscribers with 3.5 million new users while Bharti Airtel added 3.2 million new subscribers.  Idea Cellular brought 2.5mn new customers while Aircel added 2.5 mn in Feb 2011.
